When we write about a person

we should be aware that by doing so, we subject the person not only to our own personal thoughts but to criticisms by other persons. We can not stop others from interpreting in their own way what was written. It’s already out there for public scrutiny, might as well put a title “WELCOME TO HIS/HER WORLD”.

One little information, blown out of proportion, not even complete, not even first hand suddenly people turn into Einstens. 

Practice restrain, we don’t control other people’s thoughts and who the heck still believes that “what’s on tumblr stays on tumblr”.

I never formally said goodbye to the outgoing batch. I’ve said a few goodlucks to a few and that’s it bec little part of me wants them to stay. I can’t stop them from going to college but in some way I’d miss them, no it’s not about hanging out in Magsaysay strip or going out, it was actually the warm acceptance and guidance I got from former strangers who actually took time out to make me feel at ease in Science High. 

I did well in 2012-2013, averaging 91+ for the year considering it was not yet game time mode when it came to effort. I hope I find focus so I can do better. I’d like to emulate the likes of Ate Charlene, Ate Marj and a lot of Kuyas, getting full scholarships for college. It’s not showing off for these are the most silent people I know when it comes about accomplishments. I get it, it’s about a sense of responsibility you put on yourself.

I have a long way to go, a lot of time to find my way, so I bid you adieu Valky. See you around

The Phenomenon of Likes

• My closest friends will say I do not spend  much time on FB, this is just my take on the matter.

I have to be honest I am one of those who click or tap the like button when I’m bored or when I’m on a break from the daily rigors of HW and Projects.

Likes or the number of it has become a universal obsession to some. Others even consult their friends on which photo to use as their dp. personally I see nothing wrong when people ask, they are merely asking for opinion or some sort of approval, making them at ease with the choices and decisions they made. When does it become negative?  We all know the social networking world can be a bit harsh at times, people seek acceptance, approval or conformity, a sense of it is gained by some in every “like” they get. Some people I know automatically get a hundred likes or even 300-700 likes on whatever photo they put out. Some are  deserving I must admit others I wonder though. At first the perception is its all physical, how good looking the person on the photo is thus the number of likes, but looking on the different individuals it is beyond the looks, the general well being of the person is factored in, the way the person mingles in real life or how the person is perceived to be somehow transgresses the borders of social acquaintance. This is what makes us tap or click the ‘like” button. It is the genuine feeling of liking the person.

What makes us ignore it or what is the backside of things? Ever seen a photo where you felt compelled to hit like, yes there is also a bandwagon effect on the phenomenon of likes, we see our friends liking a photo, we instinctively feel the urge to follow suit. In instances like this the “likers” are the ones unknowingly seeking acceptance or a sense of being one with the majority. The tables are turned now see.

So when is too much really too much? Oh we all know, some just don’t want to admit to it. Changing your dp a hundred times in one week is your prerogative just don’t go begging for likes for each one of them. .
